History
Launched in 2001, the CNI Cochlear Kids Camp creates wonderful opportunities for families to share the success of cochlear implant children, from 3 year-olds through high school seniors. Be a part of the tradition and join families from all across the United States and Canada for 4 days and 3 nights of recreation, education and celebration
About Camp
To date, nearly 4,000 attendees, including “Cochlear Kids” and their families, have participated in over 20 CNI Cochlear Kids Camps offered since the program’s founding in 2001. Held at the beautiful YMCA of the RockiesEstesParkCenter, nestled in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, each camp session provides a warm, accepting environment where cochlear implant children and their families meet others who are facing similar challenges and celebrating similar achievements. Over the course of the weekend, family members enjoy indoor and outdoor experiences that are both recreational and educational. We invite you to be a part of the tradition and join families from all across the United States and Canada for 4 days and 3 nights of recreation, education and celebration.
Largely through donations, including support from attending and alumni families, the CNI Cochlear Kids Camps have been going strong for 12 years, attracting participants nationwide and worldwide. We ask that all camp families consider a donation to help support and sustain the camp, as we continually strive to offer this one-of-a-kind experience to as many “Cochlear Kids” as possible.
Camp Activities
Our camp offers a wide range of activities, including parent and family workshops, children’s day camp sessions, family team building, arts and crafts, nature walks, ropes course, climbing areas, swimming, archery, barbeque cookout, games and more. A typical day includes gathering for breakfast as a group in our private dining room, attending group activities in the morning, joining together for lunch, spending the afternoon participating in a variety of CNI-sponsored “Campers’ Choice” activities, having dinner as a group, then attending CNI-sponsored group events such as mini-golf tournaments, roller-skating parties, pool-time and more. The camp will also feature an added bonus for the older teens: an optional, no-extra-charge camp-out at the June Camp session, led by YMCA counselors.
YMCA of the Rockies
Graced by the awe-inspiring mountains, elk, deer and other wildlife and adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, YMCA of the Rockies’ Estes Park Center offers a wholesome, spiritual environment where families, friends and groups will be inspired by Nature and grow closer together. For almost 10 years YMCA of Rockies in EstesPark has been our gracious host. The CNI Cochlear Kids camp would not be what it is today without our partnership with the YMCA of Rockies in EstesPark. |YMCA website|
