Supported Independent Living
Anka has combined access to affordable housing with individualized services to assist people in living independently in their communities. This approach allows consumers who have traditionally required group living environments or higher levels of care to experience the freedom and responsibility of independence with supports designed to meet their unique needs and challenges.
Through a combination of funding sources, Anka is able to provide permanent supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness and/or a mental health, substance abuse, medical, or intellectual disability. Both scattered site and project based housing models are used based on community needs, and Anka either master-leases or acquires dedicated housing units for these programs. Supportive services are an integral component of the "housing first" model. An intensive strength based case management model is used to improve and maintain their health and housing.

Scattered Site
Anka master-leases apartments and duplexes to provide affordable housing to people experiencing mental illness and/or homelessness. Studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom units are available to ensure consumer choice. There are no shared bedrooms in this model, and people are provided the opportunity to master the skills needed to responsibly live independently with Anka providing a safety net during the learning process.

Project Based
In 1984, Anka secured funding through HUD's 811 program and operates a project-based affordable housing complex for people with mental illness. Anka also has set-aside units in affordable housing for people living with HIV/AIDS or who have a mental illness. Consumers are able to live independently while still enjoying the camaraderie of community life.

Group Living
Anka owns and master-leases multiple single family homes in which consumers are able to live in a group living environment while still enjoying the comforts of a private bedroom. Additionally, this model allows for increased socialization and a sharing of costs associated with independent living.
