Outpatient Services
Anka currently works with people experiencing behavioral health problems to find and maintain recovery in an outpatient environment. Using both traditional and integrated approaches, consumers participate in individual and group recovery-focused activities with a combination of peer counselors, certified addiction professionals, and mental health clinicians.

Mental Health
The purpose of Anka's day treatment programs are to assist in the stabilization, treatment, and emotional growth of its members and to create a milieu in which consumers have the opportunity to attain and sustain their highest level of independent functioning within the community. All group and therapy sessions focus on ameliorating those symptoms which function as a barrier to living a stable, independent life in the community and on promoting the mental and emotional health of each individual. Treatment is goal-oriented with an emphasis on learning to control symptoms, prevent relapse, and master the social and life skills so imperative to the process of transitioning into the larger community.

Substance Abuse
Anka's recovery program provides a safe and comfortable setting in which consumers can participate in a daily schedule of psycho-educational groups focused on building early recovery and relapse prevention skills, facilitated by licensed staff and supervised interns. Individual therapy sessions are provided, as well as family, and couples therapy sessions, as appropriate. There is also a psychiatrist available for medication management.
Based on the social rehabilitation model, the treatment philosophy centers on the provision of consumer-centered, community-based, recovery services. Consumers are perceived in the context of their individual needs, their wishes to be integral members of the community, and their aspirations to live constructive and rewarding lives.
The program model includes the belief that an empowering, positive, life-affirming approach is the most effective path to assist consumers in developing their inner strengths, coping skills, social skills and their personal support system in order to remain in the community and maintain stability.

Intellectual Disability
Based on the needs of consumers transitioning out of state institutions, Anka opened an outpatient program for people who had prior involvement with the criminal justice system or were engaging in behaviors that place them at risk for forensic involvement. Typical service and support needs include a mixture of mental health, forensic, and behavioral problems. Recognizing that meaningful activity and paid work were protective factors against recidivism, Anka combined psychosocial and behavioral supports with pre-vocational and vocational training. Consumers spend part of each day engaging in individual and group counseling to address a variety of behavioral health topics and the remainder of the day with a vocational focus.

Forensic
Through California's Conditional Release Program, Anka's forensic outpatient programs work closely with mentally disordered offenders, felons, and consumers to facilitate their reintegration into society after lengthy state hospitalizations. Persons served include individuals who would present a significant risk to community safety without the intensive case management, treatment, and supervision. The programs provide psychosocial assessment, socialization groups, independent living skills training, vocational training, and job placement in the local communities. All consumers receive case management and medication services, as well as one-on-one counseling from a licensed therapist. Consumers are also offered housing opportunities through Anka's owned and master-leased properties.
The California Forensic Assessment Project coordinates risk assessments and forensic evaluations of mentally disordered offenders to determine readiness for community placement and which program may be most appropriate for each consumer's needs.
